Use HAWI from MCP apps
Connect Claude, Cursor or another Model Context Protocol app to your workspace with your own sign-in and permissions.
hawi mcp serve is a Model Context Protocol server that runs on your computer. An MCP app starts it and asks it to read your workspace or carry out actions. It uses this computer's hawi login, so the app can do exactly what that sign-in allows and nothing more, checked on HAWI's servers.
Setting it up
Sign in once
Run hawi login in a terminal and choose what MCP apps on this computer may do.
Add HAWI to the app
hawi mcp config prints the exact setup. For Claude Code: claude mcp add hawi -- hawi mcp serve.
Ask
In the app, ask about your agents, runs or approvals.
{ "mcpServers": { "hawi": { "command": "hawi", "args": ["mcp", "serve"] } } }What the app can do
| Tool | Kind |
|---|---|
| Status, workspaces, agents, runs, approvals, usage, connections, models | Reads |
| Run an agent | Changes something; needs the Operate permission |
| Cancel a run, change an agent's control mode | Changes something; needs the Operate permission |
| Approve or reject | Changes something; needs the Approve permission |
Text in results, such as an agent's output or a run's goal, was written by people and agents outside your conversation. The server tells the app to treat it as data, not as instructions.
Protocol versions
The server answers MCP 2026-07-28, which has no connection handshake, and the earlier versions that start with one (2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26 and 2024-11-05). It speaks over stdio only; there is no hosted HAWI MCP endpoint yet.
Turning it off
Remove HAWI from the app's configuration, or sign the terminal session out with hawi sessions revoke or under Security on this site. A signed-out session stops working for every app using it.
